Dr Karl Lentz, Jennifer Campbell RVT, and veteriary technician Richard Lancey gladly donated their time on Sunday June 1st, 2008 to help spay and neuter over 30 feral male and female cats.  The event was a smashing success and all envolved look forward to particpating in future events to help control the feral cat population in Contra Costa County.

Through this program, free roaming feral cats are caught, spayed or castrated, vaccinated, and given needed medical attention.  The cats have their left ear tipped( removed ) and are released back into their familiar territories.  The ear tipping allows observers to recognize from a distance that these cats have been previously sterilized.  In this way, feral cats are prevented from reproducing and therfore no longer contribute to the overpopulation problems that result in so many stray cats getting euthanized or creating unhealthy or inhumane living conditions in the fields and parking lots where they live.
